The musical structure which we experience in contact with the work is arising at moments when several people gather at a location – in the park, next to a tree – where they can use their mobile devices to connect to the website noumen.info. Nothing else needs to be done: the devices synchronously play variants of the musical theme. |

The interpassive installation Noumen is an unusual musical work, a diffuse sound environment. In philosophy, a “noumen” (or "noumenon") is a thing in itself, a phenomenon that can be known by reason, but exists outside reason and unfolds beyond our agency.
