Information Is Not an Abstract Concept
Galeria A19 Marymont_metro dla sztuki (Warsaw/Poland), Paweł Janicki, 2023

Thanks to the invitation and support of the team of Galeria A19 Marymont_metro dla sztuki project "Information Is Not an Abstract Concept" was exhibited at the Marymont subway station in Warsaw (Poland).

The title sentence is encoded in the form of a meander in 8 languages: Latin, Polish, Ukrainian, English, simplified Chinese, Arabic, Indonesian, Spanish. Pattern base - the so-called L-system named after Aristid Lindenmayer, a Hungarian biologist interested in, among others, mathematical modeling of biological phenomena - was modified with a four-letter code (the genetic code has the same number of characters). The meander is one of the oldest decorative motifs, present in art at least since the Neolithic period, and its mathematical incarnation, strangely enough, finds application in fields as distant as biology, AI and nanotechnology. Meander is therefore a material manifestation of the continuity of thought, a material and immaterial record of information, a hyperobject existing simultaneously in culture and civilization.
